this is really working inside me: sometimes i get this feeling that more and more we journalists stop thinking about our readers. you out there. yes you. how many times have i heard the sentences “we have to do this, we have to do that”. says who? did somebody step out of the office and ask the people on the streets? or do we merely start thinking that after a couple of years being a journalist you exactly know what people are having on their minds – that we don’t need to leave our desks ever again because we have started to read them like an open book? i still believe that you (whoever you may be) are our biggest strength – no matter if you we talk about the kleine zeitung or any other newspaper. i am not saying that i am free from taking decisions that benefit my own ideas, but i honestly try to keep them to a minimum. because i love this job, i love the beauty of putting this puzzle called newspaper together day after day. beauty that has to be seen by the reader, not the writer.

i believe.
