some time ago, i wrote an article about couchsurfing. quite honestly i checked the topic, asked some people who had done in, wrote it down and forgot about it again. until i got this email last week “request to surf your couch”. first thought if you take from the community (a good story) you better give some back (a comfortable couch) for Sanja (Croatia) and Ed (UK). Selling that idea to Astrid – understandably – wasn’t an easy task. But finally she agreed to host those two. And they proved to be normal, nice, friendly people just looking for a place to stay on a small budget. It reminded me a lot of my time in Sweden as an exchange student. And while they came, slept and went I felt (and I hope Astrid did too) that for a split-second they took us on their journey, we were part of the whole experience and that whenever we go to Zagreb or London there will be someone we know.

Oh yes – we both took two weeks off – with Ireland being the target of choice this year – Julian more or less sold the idea of going there to us. Astrid fell for it, I did, so we’re off to Dublin this thursday.

I believe.
