walk away.

talking to one of my friends yesterday made me figure a change in my attitude towards finland. while by the beginning of august i was just making sure i was going to get out of this place as soon as possible, i now have to admit, this country has some kind of “second look charme”. i heard loads of people didn’t like the first couple of months here, which i can perfectly understand, finland is far away from being kind or lovely on first sight. if you dig deeper though, get to know the people and their mentality, their long fight for their own country, against the cold and dark during the long winter nights you will find a growing feeling of unlimited hospitality, a deep respect for nature and their country. i might have made the transition from a stranger in a strange man’s land to someone who has started to watch in amazement what this place has to offer.
