british petroleum invited me for a trip to bochum, germany. basically we were lead through a series of labs, working on the “ultimate” diesel fuel bp launched in 2003. their promise: more power, less pollution. and while i enjoyed the trip i couldn’t resist a distinctive feeling throughout it: fuel has no future. for 2 days we were talking a yesterday bp considers tomorrow, proudly claiming, that “the oil reservoirs will still last for another 40 years”. and then? what then? “we are currently investigating strategies for the future”. i’d love to see that stategy because up to my knowledge it’d be the first global oil company trying to cut into its own business.
i believe.
