brussels was definitly worth the trip. not only because i instantly liked the city but also by the fact that there you can actually feel what the european union is all about: cooperation, working across borders, growing together. on the other hand the union has major problems communicating its work. people in europe don’t connect the eu with free trade, unlimited travel and all the other advantages it has brought us, but with silly laws concerning the shape of cucumbers, tractor seats and other things. the biggest mistake the eu has made so far is that it was doing good things and hoping that people will find out baout them anyway. well the world doesn’t work like that.
