I remember, even as a small child I hated being lonely. Now I never did mind being on my own &#8211; alone &#8211; but I hated to be lonely. I remember crying on my 22nd birthday in Finland. In my mind, in my heart I was oceans and mountains away, back home in Austria. Learning a lesson doesn&#8217;t come the easy way &#8211; no matter if it&#8217;s re-assuring old friendships or talking to a virtual stranger.
