when i got back to work and told about the philippines and the level of poverty i had seen in some places there were some things said that really disturbed me. a colleague of mine said “well i’ve seen poor countries but believe me, those who want to make it, make it. the others just don’t want it” – now if we match this with the american way of believing that you can make it anywhere that may be fine. but this world is neither fair nor equal. and even if i want to believe that anyone could make it – it just ain’t that way. because some don’t get a chance. some don’t get a shot. the moment she said it, i wished god would teach her. teach her, that “making it” doesn’t mean money, nice clothes or the sports car she is driving. “making it” to me means believing in god, myself and ulitmately happiness with what i have been given.<\/p>\n
